Ghilotti Bros., Inc. (GBI) was recently recognized as award recipients in partnership with Caltrans and Liberty Mutual for the Loss Control Silver Safety Award for US Highway 101 Wilfred Avenue, Rohnert Park project. This project was included in Caltrans pilot Rolling Owner Controlled Insurance Program (ROCIP) program. To be included in the pilot ROCIP program, a project must be a highway construction project with a construction value of at least $25M. Caltrans selected a number of projects throughout the state to participate in its pilot ROCIP. The purpose of this program is to evaluate and validate the following conditions including potential cost savings arise from the prevention of losses, reduction of the cost of those losses through consolidated claims management, reduction in cost of claims through a single insurer’s legal defense, and reduction in premiums from the negotiating clout achieved by combining multiple insurance programs into one.
The Liberty Mutual Silver Safety Award is a result of the program's diligent safety control and seamless partnering effort among Caltrans, GBI, our subcontractors, Kaerchner Campbell & Associates, and Liberty Mutual.
The Highway 101 Wilfred Avenue Interchange project consisted of sophisticated staging and phasing to raise Highway 101 nearly 25 feet to its new grade for the new Wilfred Avenue Undercrossing. We replaced two existing bridges and add one new bridge at Wilfred Avenue/Golf Course Drive. In addition the new North and South bound HOV Lanes were added to complete this project.
At GBI we are committed to completing projects successfully. Our team approach to all projects in utilizing formal partnering with internal and external stakeholders to establish mutual project specific goals.
