Demolition

Often times before GBI begins new construction on a project, we have to make room by tearing down old construction. GBI has been in the business of doing major demolition work since the early 1950s.

GBI has done major demolition of wood frame structures, brick and concrete structures and buildings, such as a brick building for the Albert Park Bocce Ball Courts, the existing buildings for the new Solano County Government Center in Fairfield, the McInnis Park Driving Range, a church and social security building on Las Gallinas Ave in San Rafael and the North Bay Lumber Yard in Corte Madera.

We also do a significant amount of demolition of Asphalt Concrete, Portland Cement Concrete, Railroad Tracks and Underground Utilities for many of our street work and site work projects such as the various concrete streets we have reconstructed in San Francisco, railroad tracks we have removed in Emeryville and San Francisco, Asphalt Concrete and Portland Cement Concrete Hardstands we have reconstructed at the San Francisco International Airport and various surface improvements we have done on highway, street, road and parking lot projects we have constructed all over Northern California. Before we could reconstruct Lombard Street in San Francisco (the Crookedest Street in the World) we had to demolish it.

We have a wide variety of equipment available to do our demolition work such as hoe rams, grinding machines, bulldozers, hydraulic excavators and front end loaders for asphalt concrete and portland cement concrete removal and demolition.

In recent years, GBI has acquired a crusher, which we use to recycle broken asphalt concrete and portland cement concrete and make rock products out of these materials rather than hauling them to a landfill.
